Castle Knoll
Castle Knoll is the area extending up the path that runs between the shower house and the kitchen straight up the hill including the office cabin, the Castle's yurt complex and then across the high road to Robert's residence. This circle is the year-round main residence of Rodger, Michelle, Willow, and their children (Rodger III, Carl, Holly, Sebastian and Cecilia) and Robert Miller.
History
In late 2005, Rodger and Michelle began talking about moving to Our Haven full-time. During May 2006 Rodger moved out to the land with the two eldest boys to begin construction. After a two months living in a tent and working out of 12 foot trailer, Michelle and Holly moved out as well and moved the tent complex from the space just across from the cabin to the south side of the main field. Construction was completed on the yurt platform during August 2006 and the yurt was erected and moved into.
During 2007 the Rodger's office/cabin and Robert's hunter's tent was added. During the Fall of 2008 this hunter's tent was replaced with a 20' yurt from Pacific Yurts.
Structures
Yurt
The main residence and social/family center of the circle is currently a 30 foot yurt from Pacific Yurts. A 24x9 foot deck was added during 2008 to help accommodate social and work activities and provide safer entrance and egress.
Cabin
South of the main yurt is Rodger's office/cabin. The cabin was built during 2007 by Martin Mini Barns of Salem, IN. It is a 14x24 foot gambrel roof cabin featuring a finished interior with hardwood floors, a sleeping loft, a desk, and work table. The cabin is currently used as a quiet work area and Willow's sleeping area.
Robert's Home
North of the main yurt is Robert Miller's residence. This is a 14x20 foot hunter's cabin from Davis Tent built on a wooden platform.
Planned Changes
An expansion is planned for spring 2009 including 3 additional yurts (two 30 foot and one 24 foot) to allow for better living comfort. Construction will likely begin during May 2009 to layout the posts and beams then main construction and erection will complete during the month of May. One of the yurts will allow the children a much more comfortable space. The other two will be used by Willow and Michelle for their sleeping quarters and private spaces.
